Values 4.0

Values 4.0 is a line of work that seeks to incorporate values education into the Euskadi VET learning model.

The central objective is to train people who are prepared to make decisions in line with Euskadi VET's values in their professional setting, people who adequately select problems and find the best ways to solve them, people who develop talent.

This line of work is important because:

• We live in an increasingly digitally and technologically advanced society that is also facing great social and environmental challenges. With these challenges, it is crucial to learn to live together, to critically analyse reality, and to assume both our individual and collective responsibility.
• We need people in our society and at our companies who recognise the interdependence between individuals and with the planet. People who are compassionate and inclusive and who have initiative: change makers toward a fairer and more sustainable society.
• It promotes individual and collective responsibility and creates committed and socially responsible people in the workplace and in society as a whole.

This is not so much about adding "another task." It is more about making the most of what we already do and looking at it from a values perspective, such that students incorporate Values 4.0, into their habits and actions as professionals. To this end, the ETHAZI model provides an ideal context for implementation.

To move forward in the process of incorporating values training into the educational programmes, we involved the entire teaching team. We used all classroom activities (challenges, reflections, feedback conversations, etc.) to make values education cross-cutting and a part of students' day-to-day lives, in a gradual but constant way.

We propose a learning path focused on three fundamental blocks. Firstly, we address the principle of responsibility, highlighting the importance of individual responsibility to reach collective responsibility.

Then, we work on Euskadi VET's Values 4.0 (solidarity, inclusion, initiative, and interdependence).

Lastly, we work on the three criteria of Business Social Responsibility (good governance, environment, and society).
