STEAM

What is the STEAM line of work?

This line of work researches, monitors, and works on incorporating the STEAM perspective into the ETHAZI model, Euskadi VET learning model. We understand the STEAM educational focus in Europe as a student-centred model that uses active-collaborative methodologies and is focused on integrating scientific and technological disciplines to foster an inter-disciplinary and creative educational vision.

What is the objective?

The main objective is to contribute to developing the talent of our students in 4.0 and 5.0 technological contexts, integrating STEAM philosophy and culture into the Euskadi VET learning model.

Why is it important for Euskadi VET?

The STEAM perspective is important because:

  • Moving from an industrial model to a new model, largely based on technology, connectivity, and digitisation, helps to evolve toward a society that is demanding a knowledge transformation.
  • Fostering STEAM education provides incentive for interest in STEM professions.
  • It enriches inter-disciplinary learning scenarios with the incorporation of science.
  • It promotes models of intelligence and action-oriented thought.
  • It helps to work on critical, engineering, scientific, and creative thought, and more.
  • It fosters constructive and creative thought and generative and executive intelligence, enriching learning experiences.
  • It helps to prepare people to provide new solutions to problems for which we have no response, encouraging the acquisition of skills necessary for the 21st century.
  • It contributes to transforming our students' education from skill-based to talent-based.

Process

We monitor and analyse how to train people with STEAM skills so that they acquire the ability to analyse and tackle complex problems and to work in collaborative fashion in interactive and immersive environments.

We help educator teams to train students for future jobs, fostering innovation and creativity, and including rapidly growing fields, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics.

On the other hand, we promote action-oriented intelligence and thought models, driving collaborative work with advanced technological-digital resources. This broadens the abilities of people in learning contexts based on Euskadi VET values.

Lastly, we transfer the knowledge obtained, promoting the generation of challenges with a STEAM component, both to strengthen the STEAM philosophy and to integrate the use of advanced technologies into ETHAZI cycles.
